A fun fact about our wedding is that despite my type-A attention to detail and planning, we didn’t actually practice our first dance until the cocktail hour right before our reception. It’s why in the majority of the photos from our first dance we’re laughing, and why something I was pretty nervous about (hundreds of people watching us dance!) ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole day. For that 90 seconds or so, it really felt like it was just us there on that marble ballroom floor, making up a dance as authentic as us spinning around the kitchen together at home. It goes to show that no matter how much you plan, there comes a point when you just have to go with it. Life happens, and the true test of a marriage is how you navigate those unexpected ups and downs together.
