Saturdays are for the girls

Pop-up shop for women-owned businesses in Charlotte
Pink Social Girl Tribe Pop-Up Shop! 👯💕 #shoplocal

Barstool Sports may say that Saturdays are for the boys, but this past Saturday was most definitely for the girls. My friend Amanda and I started our morning at the Pink Social Girl Tribe Pop Up sale at Sugar Creek Brewing. This pop up sale had 50+ women-owned businesses, including local boutiques and designers. The whole purpose was to support other women, shop local, and throw a fun girls’ day out.

We bought VIP tickets for $5, which gave us access to the sale an hour earlier than general admission. During VIP hour, all of the booths had major sales going on – most had 20% off everything! I more than made my $5 back. We also got really cute tote bags with the above print and coupons inside. Two of my fellow EMAers were among the first ladies in line, and they received adorable gold-foil prints, too 😍

During the VIP hour I snagged an adorable red and cream striped tunic with brown elbow patches (my favorite!) from Petal, and a preppy white and bright blue striped fit and flare dress for only $9 from Style Gather. It was surprisingly easy to get around the entire sale within the VIP hour, with enough time to make repeat visits. It was kind of a rush!

I also discovered, what will likely be my new favorite shop in Charlotte: Paper Twist. It’s a stationery and gift shop, and their entire booth looked like something you would find in my home or on my desk. Obsessed.

After the pop up sale, I was really excited to go to Futo Buta, a local ramen spot, for lunch. I had never been before, but every night when I walk Rufio it is packed, so I knew it had to be good – and it did not disappoint!

I got the Miso (Hungry) ramen bowl with sweet white corn, pecan smoked pork belly, scallion, bean sprout, cabbage, onsen egg, and sesame. I don’t think I could ever eat plain ramen (like most college students) ever again. It was extremely filling without making me feel gross (per usual after I eat out), but I definitely need to work on my chopsticks skills. #SlowestEaterEver.

Futo Buta also has homemade ice cream, and we could not pass on their Fruity Pebbles flavor. How adorable is that?! It tasted exactly like a Flintstones Push Up Pop from our childhood. It’s safe to say I’ll be back ASAP.

How was your Saturday?
