“You’ll feel so homesick that you’ll want to die, and there’s nothing you can do about it apart from endure it. But you will, and it won’t kill you. And one day the sun will come out – you might not even notice straight away, it’ll be that faint. And then you’ll catch yourself thinking… Continue reading Wednesday Words – Brooklyn

How to make networking less painful
I tend to dread networking events. I know that as a PR girl I shouldn’t say that, but it’s true. It’s awkward. Everyone there has an agenda. And there’s always those people who are constantly in search of a better person to talk to. (Those people are the worst.)
Bayern Munich/Inter Milan soccer game
This past spring, MPR created a New York Islanders meet-up to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs among fellow hockey fans. Through this group, we discovered Brevard Court in uptown, and The Upper Deck at Courtyard Hooligans quickly became our go-to spot. The owner let us take over the bar during Islander playoff games, but it’s really… Continue reading Bayern Munich/Inter Milan soccer game
Friday vibes: July 29
This week was a great one. For one, it was the first time all month I started to feel like my normal self again. The z-pak finally defeated the bronchitis and nasty sinus infection I picked up in Edmonton. I’m no longer drowning in mucus. But on top of that, I attended two networking events: the… Continue reading Friday vibes: July 29
Going home again
Over the fourth of July holiday, we hopped in the car with Rufio and drove to New York to visit our families in a weird, coming full circle experience. PR Girl Travels: Edmonton, Alberta
I recently traveled to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for a client event. Our program puts on events in multiple cities each year and these trips typically include working from sun up to sun down, followed by a client dinner, followed by collapsing into my hotel bed and falling asleep to Big Bang Theory reruns on TBS.… Continue reading PR Girl Travels: Edmonton, Alberta
Handlettering classes
One of my favorite Charlotte discoveries is SkillPop. It’s a local startup that offers in-person classes to learn new skills, from watercolors to bread-making to mastering the at-home blowout. Each class is bite-sized and, best of all, inexpensive!
Wednesday Words – Nora Ephron
“A lot of college graduates approach me about becoming screenwriters. I tell them, ‘Do not become a screenwriter, become a journalist,’ because journalists go into worlds that are not their own. Kids who go to Hollywood write coming-of-age stories for their first scripts, about what happened to them when they were sixteen. Then they write… Continue reading Wednesday Words – Nora Ephron
Summer work playlist
This time last year, we had just moved down to Charlotte and I was fortunate enough to keep my agency job in New York by working remotely while I searched for a new job in the south. I got a little taste of working from home, and I quickly learned that it was not for… Continue reading Summer work playlist
